The Presidents’ Tailor. From Auschwitz to the White House

Rick Minnich
2024 | United States, Germany | 52 min

One man, two lives: in one, he is a young Czech who speaks Yiddish and loses his family in Auschwitz. In the next, he is a tailor living in Brooklyn, speaking English, and dressing U.S. presidents.

This charmingly smiling man experienced both the worst and the best of humanity. In Auschwitz, he lost everything. But his determination and love for his craft allowed him to start anew in the United States, where he became the tailor to six U.S. presidents: Eisenhower, Johnson, Ford, Clinton, Obama, and Trump. He also dressed Paul Newman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jimmy Fallon, LeBron James, and an extensive list of celebrities, as well as crafting the impeccable suits for Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Great Gatsby.
