Last Stop Coney Island: The Life & Photography of Harold Feinstein - MoritzFeedDog2024

The extraordinary life of a master of street photography, with a humanistic gaze faithful to the idiosyncrasies of New York life, and especially of Coney Island.

Young Harold documented all the places that fascinated him: the tough-guy gangs of Coney Island, the naive recruits of the Korean War, the bebop “cats” in jazz clubs, or the hippie college students from Vermont. Decades as tough as they were exciting, forever captured in his 35mm black and white. When Feinstein was just 19, Edward Steichen purchased one of his photographs for the MoMA archive. A precursor to street style, Feinstein was mesmerized by displays of style and attention to attire. In his work, there is a profound reverence for spontaneous life, movement in the streets, and the tiny celebrations of everyday life.
